North West Fire District

The North West Fire Districted is comprised of the Baldwinsville and Lysander Fire Companies. We are strategically located in the north-western section of Onondaga County boarding north Oswego and Cayuga Counties. The North West Fire District protects 52 square miles and approximately 19,500 residents across the Towns of Lysander and Van Buren and the Village of Baldwinsville. NWFD is an all-volunteer fire department operating out of 5 stations.

Why Our Department
Volunteering gives you a great opportunity to give back to the community. We have a large response area covering various settings to include semi-urban, suburban and rural. Which allows for our personnel to take on various challenges. Having such a large area allows for you to pick where you live if you choose to be a responder from home. We also offer duty shift programs for members who work odd hours or members who live out of district. We are ever evolving our fleet and updating tools and equipment to stay tune with the ever changing times.
