Incorporated in 1996 as a volunteer ambulance after separating from the Marcellus Fire Department, MAVES became an independent not-for-profit EMS agency in 2004 serving the Village and Town of Marcellus and the Howlett Hill Fire Department. MAVES has merged and expanded twice in 25 years to include the Navarino Fire District, South Onondaga Fire District, Town of Otisco - Otisco Fire District Amber Fire District, and the Otisco Valley portion of the Spafford Fire District. MAVES provides primary EMS coverage to a 64 sq. mile area with an annual call volume of 1700 calls.
Why Our Department
Serving the community as a volunteer or career staff provides the opportunity to give back to others. MAVES provides advanced life support services in the southwestern corner of Onondaga County. The area is a blend of suburban and rural communities.
