LaFayette Fire Department is a rural community just a short drive from the City of Syracuse. We cover 49 square miles with approximately 4,200 residents and many daily travelers on Interstate 81. The fire department is 100% volunteer averaging 250 Fire/EMS calls a year. Primary EMS coverage is provided by the LaFayette Ambulance Department, Inc., housed within our station.
Why Our Department
LaFayette Fire Department is in a rural, aging community. In a time when volunteerism in general is down Nationwide, our community is lacking volunteers and are limited by the average age of our residents. Volunteers save our community $1.8 million a year, which would be very difficult for our small community to absorb that cost. We offer out of district membership, LOSAP (retirement plan), and tax incentives.
We are Neighbors helping Neighbors!
