Cicero Volunteer Fire Department

In 1883, a group of citizens formed the Cicero Volunteer Fire Department with a horse-drawn hand pumper, to help their neighbors. Almost 150 years later, we continue that tradition, although our equipment has changed.

We are still all-volunteer, but now we operate out of two Stations, that house 2 aerials, 3 engines, 1 heavy rescue, 2 light rescues, 4 Chief’s vehicles, and 1 utility vehicle.
We respond to alarms for building, vehicle, and outdoor fires, hazardous materials incidents, medical calls, and calls to assist our neighbors such as lock-outs and the occasional cat in a tree.

Why Our Department
The Cicero Volunteer Fire Department is one of the 5 outstanding Departments in the Town of Cicero. Our regular meeting and training times are Thursday evenings at 7 pm, with supplemental training every-other Wednesday at 9 am. Training consists of drills taught by Cicero members, neighboring agencies, NYS, and national Fire and EMS Instructors. All training is free to Cicero Members. Training consists of yearly skills, such as fire suppression, emergency medical services including CPR, automobile accident extrication, and specialty training. All personal protective equipment, including turn-out gear, will be supplied to each member at no cost.
